Hiking to the...

We had seen the mini-volcanoes, but of course they could not compare to the big guy, so we did the trek up to see the active volcano of Rincon de la Vieja. In the beginning, it was very green and similar to the hikes that we had done earlier, except for the trek was much more up and more tiring. We hiked up to an altitude of 1806 m in about 7.5 km. We could even see the Pacific ocean from the views we had - and Nicaragua! You would not believe the winds that we felt, though. I was having to balance myself because they kept pushing me over. There must have been some gusts up to 50mph - it was wild!
