Memorial Day Weekend with Friends

We had a very low-key long weekend and did a lot of sitting around and doing nothing. It's so nice because I never get to do nothing - whoo hoo! We had Terri and Josh over on Sunday night for wine tasting (so that I can give Kristin recs for her wedding) and just average lasagna. As hard as I try to become a better cook, I guess I just don't do it enough because I never seem to get much better. I guess I'll just keep trying! Two of our favorites from the 7 bottles that we tried were the Z Cuvee from Zaca Mesa and the Michael Pozzan Cabernet. Yummy! Josh and I were having goofy face offs too as you can see here.

We went over to Josh and Monique's today for a Memorial Day BBQ and had a fun time. Houston is getting so grown up and is cuter every time I see him. He must have smiled the whole time we were there - such a happy baby and he just loves to have lots of people around. There's no doubt that he's his father's child -look at how much he loves the Heinz Ketchup! While we were out BBQing, we started seeing words in the sky. It's pretty cool the way they are advertising these days. 5 planes fly in formation and put out smoke in planned intervals to make words - how cool!

Happy 1st Birthday, Sadie!

My little cousin Sadie is possibly the most beautiful little girl I have ever seen. Although, I may be a bit partial since we are related. :-) I went up to Sacramento last weekend for her first birthday party and she had grown and changed so much since I last saw her at 4 months old in Louisiana. Dana and Justin are such great parents and it is awesome to see how Sadie's face lights up everytime they are around. She is such a happy little thing and her favorite toy while I was there was a balloon! I don't know why kids even need toys - they love whatever happens to be around them so much more.

I got to visit with my first cousins Dana and Wil and their husband/wife Justin and Kelly. Dana and Wil's mom, Georgia was there too and I hadn't seen her in ages. It's so nice to be around family. Being here in San Diego with no family, I think I forget that at times, but this weekend and anytime I'm back with other family, it makes me realize how important they really are. Dana and I even compared how similar our feet are. I didn't realize anyone else in the world had the same silly feet as mine (down to the little toe), but check it out!

The party was super fun and there were kids around everywhere. Dana's friend's little boy was right around Sadie's age and watching them play was the cutest thing! We're still not sure if they'll just be best friends or if they'll be boyfriend/girlfriend one day, but one of those is certain.

Red Bull Air Race

The Red Bull air race was in San Diego a couple of weeks ago and we went out to watch. It was really cool to see these planes flying so fast and right over the water and right by us - very exciting! After a few, though they were all doing the same route, so we didn't stay all that long. But I got a nice video for you all to see too!

Old friends come to visit

They're not really old (or else I'm old!), but they are friends from my past that I got to spend time with again - how exciting! Ian's mom and mine met during lamaze class and spent a lot of time with each other while Ian and I were babies - I even have a picture of Ian and I sitting on a piano naked as babies, playing. Too funny! Anyway, we grew up together in the same neighborhood, same grade school and even high school. We didn't stay in very good contact in high school and after, as people often grow apart, but we've come back in contact through the great new tools of the Internet! Ian married Susan, who went to the same church as I grew up in. What a small world! They have a beautiful little baby named Olivia and I just loved watching her while they were out here visiting. She did nothing but smile the whole time she was here - such an angel. It was really great to catch up with them out here while Ian was here for work anyway. Thanks so much for taking time to spend with me guys - such a joy to have you here!

Welcome to the world, Baby Cole!

I'm WAY behind on blogs, as this one shows, but Shelly had her beautiful baby, Cole and I got to visit him about a week after he was born. Shelly and Kevin are already the cutest parents - welcome, Cole - we love having you in this big world with us!
